Introduction

In this exercise, you will use your functional knowledge of the target language to write a draft of an essay in the target language in which you express your opinion on a professional or social topic. You will be asked to respond to one prompt.

Criteria for Scoring

In order to satisfy the highest level of the scoring rubric, your response must provide clear, consistent, and convincing evidence of the following:
effective and culturally appropriate writing on a given topic in the target language; an organized, coherent, and fluent essay in the target language; and a variety of vocabulary and a strong control of various grammatical and syntactical structures in the target language.
