4. Past progressive & Past simple
We use simple past to talk about a complete action. We use the past progressive for actions which were not complete at a past time. We use 'when' or 'while' to connect those past events. Example: The dog bit him when he was running. When he was running, the dog bit them. Form: past simple + while + past progressive While + past progressive, past simple The dog bit him while he was running. While he was running, the dog bit him. The little girl was crying because she got her finger caught in the door. Adrian hurt his head because he wasn't wearing a helmet.
