Marion watched her mother making applesauce. It looked so easy that she asked to make it all by herself.
First she washed the apples and cut them in quarters. Next, after taking out the cores, she put the apples in a pan with just enough water to cover them. She cooked them until they were soft. Then she pressed them through a sieve in order to take out the skins and to make the sauce smooth. When this was finished she put in the sugar to sweeten and then grated nutmeg over the top.
