51 My Diary--Fact and Opinion

My Diary
by Jenny Jarman-Walker
Note: Although this is a fictional diary entry, it is a good place to look at fact and opinion. It is a realistic piece of writing.

Monday. April 10th Dear Diary,
I’m writing in the taxi on the way to the TV studio. It's 6:45 in the morning, and it's just getting light. It was dark and cold when my alarm went off, and I wanted to stay in bed a bit longer. Mom said, "No."

Mr. Davis is driving me this morning. He doesn't talk much, which is good. I can write more. I can see the grass on the side of the road. It's still wet. It's supposed to be sunny later on. Let's hope so. I hate it when filming stops because of the rain.

My call is for 7:30. Before we finish work every day, we are all given a call sheet. It has all the information about what we'll be doing the next day, which scenes we'll be filming (or "shooting" as they say), and what time everyone has to be at work. Under my name is "Call time 7:30 A.M." and "Scenes 4, 5, and 7."

Hey, we're here already. I'll run out of the taxi as fast as I can and into the studio so I can stay warm.

It's 8:00, and I have changed into my wardrobe for today. I know "wardrobe" sounds funny, as if I should have knobs or handles, but that's what they call what I'm wearing today.

I have three scenes to shoot before lunch today. I know my lines. Mom helped me last night.

Mandy, the make-up and hair-dressing lady, is pulling my hair into a ponytail, so it's hard to write. She's done my make-up already. Yuk! I hate this stuff. How does Morn put up with it all day?
