More Irregular Preterites and Imperfect Progressives

Imperfect progressive sounds like "was/were ___ing" in English. It is formed with the verb "estar" in the imperfect tense - estaba, estabas, etc. - plus the participle, which is like our verbs ending in "-ing." To get the participle in Spanish, replace -ar verb endings with -ando and -er or -ir verb endings with -iendo. Just remember some spelling changes - creyendo, leyendo, cayendo.
