Present Perfect from Ch. 6B
The present perfect in English sounds like "has/have" with a past participle - "I have written," "She has returned," etc. In Spanish, this is made up of the helping verb "haber" - conjugated to "he, has, ha, hemos, han" - plus the past participle. To get the past participle (which does not change with the subject like "haber"), drop off the infinitive ending. For "-ar" verbs, add back on "-ado" and for "-er" and "-ir" verbs add back on "-ido." However, there are nine irregular past participles in this chapter that you have to memorize: decir-dicho devolver-devuelto escribir-escrito hacer-hecho morir-muerto poner-puesto romper-roto ver-visto volver-vuelto
