CASE STUDY 23 - Baby Linda

Baby Linda was born at 35 weeks' gestation and weighed 3 lb, 12 oz. At birth she was suctioned well and given oxygen, and she responded with spontaneous respirations. On admission to the special care nursery, Baby Linda was noted to have nasal flaring, a respiratory rate of 66, and an apical pulse of 150. Her axillary temperature was 96.8° F (36° C). Linda was placed in a radiant warmer and oxygen continued by oxygen hood.
