Tener & Tener que & Hay & Hay que
Remember - used by itself - "tener" means "to have". When you use tener in the expression "tener + que + infinitivo" you are expressing what a specific person HAS TO DO. "Hay" by itself means "there is or there are or Is there...? / Are there..? if it is a question". When you use "Hay + que + infinitive you are expressing what "ONE" has to do in general.
