You can use paper but not a calculator. Look for number pairs to make this easier. Ex: 14+6+2 is easier if you add 14+6, get 20 then add 2. 15+2+5+5+5 is easier if you count by 5's then add 2 like this. 15, 20, 25, 30......30+2=32
