Lesson 23 - Music in the Air - and on the Page!

Everyone loves to listen to music. Did you know that you can read music, too?

Think about times when you have sung songs from a songbook. Above the words to the song, you probably noticed five long lines. These lines are called a staff, and the markings on them are called notes. The notes stand for different pitches, or high and low sounds.

Every note has a name, but you don't need to know the names to read music. Just remember that the note on the bottom line is a low note, and the note on the top line is a high note. The other notes are somewhere in between. Try to make your voice higher or lower as you see the notes climb up or down the scale.
