ELLs Responding to Paintings -- Norman Rockwell's "The Runaway"

This activity is indebted to Jane D. Hill's and Kathleen Flynn's article "Asking the Right Questions," published in National Staff Development Council (www.nsdc.org), Winter 2008, Vol. 29, No. 1.

This activity uses a painting by Norman Rockwell, an artist known and admired for giving us a sweet, nostalgic vision of life in the United States. People have enjoyed for "The Runaway" decades. Here are a series of questions to create a dialogue between you and your ELL student.
