Tier-Two (Academic Discourse) Words Set #2

This contextually-based vocabulary exercise has students recognize and learn "tier two" words that are helpful in learning and discussing "tier three" (academic and conceptual) words. This is in contrast to "Tier One" words that are common, everyday words, and "Tier Three" words that are complex and specific to a discipline, such as photosynthesis in science, metaphor in English, etc. To give a context for learning these words and to show how they can be used, many of these sentences using these words are centered around the Grimms' fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel."
