An analogy shows a relationship between a pair of words. The first pair of words goes together in the same way as the second pair of words. For example:
American Robin : Connecticut :: Mockingbird : Tennessee
The American Robin goes with Connecticut because it is their state bird. In the same way, the Mockingbird goes with Tennessee because it is their state bird.
