Nouns and Adjectives worksheet
A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing or idea. Several clues can help you identify nouns: 1) Most nouns have a singular form and a plural form. (park, parks; box, boxes) If you can make it plural, it may be a noun. 2) Many nouns in sentences are preceded by the words a, an, or the. These are articles. If you can put one of these articles before the word and it makes sense, you may have found a noun. 3) Some nouns end with one of the following suffixes: -hood, -dom, -ment, -ance, -er, or -or. If you see a word that ends in these words, you may have found a noun. Adjectives are words that modify (or describes) a noun. Several clues can help you find adjectives: 1) Adjectives usualy modify nouns by telling which one, what kind, or how many. 2) Adjectives can be formed from some words when the suffixes -ful, -able, -less, or -ish are added to the words.
