An appositive is a noun or pronoun used to identify or describe another noun or pronoun. Use commas to set off nonessential appositive or appositive phrases.
Example: My oldest sister, Alicia, will be basketball practice until 6 p.m. (You should only have one oldest sister so her name is not essential to the understanding).
