Relaxation Breathing Exercise
This is a breathing exercise I put together that is designed to provide relaxation. The podcast goes for 5 minutes or so. (You might need to download it as a QuickTime movie to your computer if it doesn't load up.) It's based on Alexander Lowen's Bioenergetics theories of mind-body awareness. It also has similarities with the Yoga postures called "The Cat" and "The Cow," but it's used from a seated position.
I use this script with students I coach as part of helping them build a relaxation response so they can be more effective students and test takers. If you do this exercise on a regular basis, your body learns a "relaxation response" that you can depend on.
