Formation and translation of Latin infinitives

The infinitive is a useful tool, combining case -- which nouns have -- with tense and voice -- which words have.

  • Need to make a verb accusative -- the infinitive's just the ticket.
  • Wonder what a perfect tense noun looks like -- wonder no more.
Notes
  • Spelling counts on the Latin, and you must distinguish between second conjugation verbs (-ēre, -ēri) and third conjugation verbs (-ere).
  • All verbs in -are are actually in -āre, all verbs in -ire are actually in -īre, so here longs-and-shorts don't matter. Leave 'em 'short' -- I'll know.
  • There's a long-vowels palette available. Click on it and it will follow you down the page.
