Sport of Reading - Yellow 04

Would you believe that plants may actually have feelings? The research of one scientist, at least, gives strong evidence that plants do have feelings of a sort. This scientist attached a machine similar to a lie detector to a number of plants to record their reactions to certain things. Each plant was then stimulated and the polygraph recorded the plant's reactions. A plant which was being watered gave reactions similar to those of a person who was relaxing.

Six students helped the scientist with the plant research. One of the six students was told to be nasty to the plants. This one student was instructed to destroy one of two plants that were growing side by side. As the selected student approached the plant, the plant reacted violently before being destroyed. All of the students then marched by the remaining plant. It reacted only when the DESTRUCTIVE student walked by!

In a third experiment, plants reacted from another room when live shrimp were tossed into boiling water. Do plants really have feelings? Think about it the next time you walk on the grass or pick a flower.
