Susan Wallace, 24 years old, has made an appointment with her physician to determine if she might be pregnant. Susan and her husband, Tim, have been trying for almost 1 year to become parents. They have been married for 2 years. Neither have been parents before. Susan took birth control pills for 6 years before she stopped 28 months ago. Both Tim and Susan deny any medical problems. Susan's periods are usually regular, occurring every 26 days. Six weeks have elapsed since Susan has had a menstrual period.
