Find the Participial Phrase

REMINDER: a PARTICIPIAL PHRASE contains a participal and its modifiers and acts as an adjective to describe a noun or pronoun. Participles are verb forms that usually end in -ing or -ed (like bruising or bruised), but some participles have irregular endings (like run or frozen). Watch out for these!

running for his life
walking along slowly
filled with joy
pumped up
broken hearted
gleaming with a fresh coat of paint
worn at the edges
flattered by the attention
jumping for joy

These are all examples of participial phrases. They begin with a participle—a past- or present-tense verb form that acts like an adjective—and end with the words that complete the phrase.
