MS Independent Work QUIZ: Verb Phrases

In Spanish when there are two verbs in a row, the 2nd one almost always ends with R. Four common verb expressions are:

1. wants to do something = a form of QUERER + verb ending with R
(quiere comer=he wants to eat)

2. can do something = a form of PODER + verb ending with R
(puedo cantar=I can sing)

3. has to do something = a form of TENER + QUE + verb ending with R
(ellos tienen que hacer la tarea=they have to do the homework)

4. is going to do something = a form of IR + A + verb ending with R
(tú vas a dormir=you are going to sleep)
