LNM Chapter XI -- Present to Imperfect
Change the verb in the blank from present to imperfect, so that it translates the English phrase (the person and number will no change). If you see an "a" before the ending, keep it. (līberat --> līberābat) If you see an "e" before the ending, keep it. (tenēmus --> tenēbāmus) If you see an "i" or "u" it's trickier: think about whether the verb ends in "iō" or just "ō" in the 1st singular present. If it ends in just "ō", use just "ē" with bam bās bat. If it has an "iō", use "iē" (vincit --> vincēbat; capit --> capiēbat)
