Outsiders Persuasive Paragraph
EXAMPLE: If I could, I would give Two-Bit a break and remove him from the East side of town. One reason he deserves a break is because he is good at getting along with people. Ponyboy describes him as someone who could “keep us laughing at ourselves as well as at other things” (10). Some of the greasers, like Dally or Steve, would be too angry and bitter to try to be friends with Socs. However, Two-Bit can get along with anyone. A second reason he should be given a chance is because he is very loyal. Two-Bit wants to help his friends, like when he wanted to go to Texas to hunt for Johnny and Ponyboy after they ran away (88). If Two-Bit’s life was better, he would be able to do even more to help the people he cared about. Finally, I feel he should be moved from the East side because he tends to go along with what other people do. For example, on page 137, Two-Bit says that he fights just because everyone else does. In fact, Pony thinks that “if everybody jumped in the Arkansas River, ol’ Two-Bit would be right on their heels.” If Two-Bit had better role models, he would probably make better choices. In conclusion, even though all the greasers deserve to be saved, I think saving Two-Bit would help him make much better decisions and enable him to help his friends.
