Poetry PAPER EAGLES and A WISH COMPREHENSION
PAPER EAGLES Kites were first made by a carpenter who lived in China almost three thousand years ago. His name was Gong Shuban. It is said that he made a wooden kite strong enough to carry a person in the air. This kite was used to find out where the enemy might be during a war. The first kite was called a "wooden eagle." Today, the Chinese word for kite means "paper eagle." A WISH Saturday I flew my kite on a hilltop high. It leaped up like a dancer and sailed across the sky. When it dips and bobs along, flying looks so easy! I wish that I could soar like that when the day is breezy.
