Read the following passage about popcorn. Next, answer the questions about the reading.
Popcorn
1 Do you like popcorn? Most people in the United
States do. Every year, they eat more than 200 cups
of it per person. That is a lot of popcorn!
2 Most of the time, they eat it for a snack at home.
But they get popcorn in other places, too. They
buy boxes of it at baseball or basketball games.
They also get it at the movies. Many U.S. movie
theaters smell like popcorn.
3 Popcorn is easy to make. All you need are some
popcorn kernels and some hot oil. The hot oil
makes the kernels pop. That is because every kernel
has a little water in it. When the water gets hot,
steam makes the kernel pop.
4 Popcorn kernels come in different sizes and colors.
You can buy white, yellow, red, purple, or black kernels.
After it pops, the popcorn is always white.
5 Many people put salt on their popcorn. Some like it with
butter, too. Others like popcorn with sugar on it.
6 Would you like a good quick snack? Have a bowl of popcorn!
