¿Qué fuiste tú?
You're going to write TWO sentences per question. You're writing sentences describing what the subject USED to do for a living, and what they used to do at their job (therefore both sentences will be in the preterite). The first sentence will ALWAYS use the verb SER in the preterite! The second sentence will use whichever verb is in the question. For example:
Q: ella / gerente de un restaurante lujoso: ¿trabajar en una oficina formal o informal?
A: Ella fue gerente de un restaurante lujoso. Trabajó en una oficina formal.
Notice how I answered the question ¿trabajar en una oficina formal o informal?, AND I put the verb in the preterite! Watch spelling and accents. Let me know if you need help!
Your textbooks are a great resource; look at pages 394-395 if you forget how to conjugate irregular/spelling changing verbs in the preterite. Page 392 will help you conjugate -IR/-ER verbs in the preterite.
