Hyperbole

Hyperbole is extreme exaggeration used to make a point. This literary device is used by writers and poets, but is also common in everyday speech, as it is used to stress a point and emphasize an idea. The purpose of hyperbole is to create a larger-than-life effect and overly stress a specific point. Such sentences usually convey an action or sentiment that is generally not realistically possible or plausible, but helps emphasize an emotion.
