หลักการใช้ V. to be รูปอดีตของ Past Simple Tense
1. S + was/were (=Verb แท้) ....... มีความหมาย = เป็น, อยู่, คือ
เช่น I was a little girl. ฉันเคยเป็นเด็กตัวเล็กๆ
He was a doctor. เขาเคยเป็นหมอ
We were primary school students. พวกเราเคยเป็นนักเรียนโรงเรียนประถมฯ
They were at school yesterday. พวกเขาอยู่ที่โรงเรียนเมื่อวาน
2. S + was/ were + adj.
(was/ were = ไม่มีคำแปล เนื่องจากทำหน้าที่เป็น V.ช่วย หน้าคำคุณศัพท์)
เช่น My hair was short when I was young. ผมของฉันสั้นเมื่อตอนเป็นเด็ก
He was late yesterday. เขาสายเมื่อวาน
My friends were happy with the test results. เพื่อนฉันมีความสุขกับผลสอบ
Note: รูปปฏิเสธ เติม not หลัง was/ were
