Naming Compounds Test

Spelling Counts.

If I give you the equation, you type in the name.

If I give you the name, you give me the equation.

Subscripts should be typed as regular numbers AFTER the element they belong to. For example, water H2O would be typed in as H2O. Elements that need parentheses follow the same rules. For example, Mg(OH)2 would be typed in as Mg(OH)2. Magnesium phosphate Mg3(PO4)2 would be typed in as Mg3(PO4)2.

The quiz is ALSO case sensitive. When typing out the name, like potassium chloride, use ALL lower case with a space in between the ions' names.

If a name requires roman numerals, put a space in between the cation and the anion with the roman numerals in parenthesis. For example, Fe2O3 would be typed out as iron (III) oxide.

Spell all compounds with lowercase letters only. Notice how I spelled iron (III) oxide above. The i in iron is lowercase as is the o in oxygen. The roman numerals should still be capitalized, however.

This quiz is timed.
The total time allowed for this quiz is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
