20. Comprehension Skills : Using Transitional Words

What is transitional word?
It is a word or phrase (e.g. First, First of all, Second, Third, Next, After that, Then, Finally, also, and, but, because, however, therefore, in addition, for example etc.) that shows how one idea is related to another idea.

Moreover, transitional words give hints/suggestions about what is about to happen in what you are reading.
Understanding them is a key to comprehension.
