Fun in the Sun
Every summer, my family packs up and heads for Sunnyside Beach. The fun begins as soon as we are on the road. During the trip, we talk and sing songs. We stop for a picnic at our favorite roadside park. As we get closer to the beach, we point out familiar sights.
We always stay in the same beach house. It has big, sunny rooms and a porch with a swing. My dad loves to read in the hammock out back. The owner, Mrs. Pitts, always leaves a plate of homemade cookies on the kitchen table.
Of course, the best part of our vacation is swimming in the ocean and playing on the beach. Every morning, we go for a long swim. We draw pictures in the wet sand and make sand sculptures. In the afternoons, we take walks along the beach. We collect shells and smooth rocks.
When our vacation is over, we pack up the pretty things we've found. It's hard to leave, but we know we'll be back again next summer.
