Election maps depict how individual states or other political divisions voted in a particular election. Often, colors or patterns are used to differentiate the candidates. Numbers within each state boundary stand for the number of electors from that state. Use the following guidelines to help you improve your skill in reading election maps. * Read the title to learn the subject of the map. * Use the legend to determine how each candidate's or party's votes are represented. * Analyze the information to draw conclusions or make generalizations about the election.
