2.20 Ion Quick Quiz Practice
This is the same ion quick quiz from Unit 1. YOU ARE STILL EXPECTED TO KNOW THEM COLD! Here's what you need to do: take this 4 minutes quiz FIVE times. (20 minutes - that's it!) You should be scoring in the 90's on this. If you're not, keep at it... practice makes perfect!
YOUR NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS PLUS YOUR BEST SCORE MUST TOTAL MORE THAN 95 TO QUALIFY FOR THE 80-BUMP! (Examples: best score = 87, number of attempts =10 (87 + 10 = 97) you qualify. best score =
83, number of attempts = 8 (83 + 8 = 91) you get the 83.)
Know that these ions (combined with the knowledge of how to name write formulas for ionic compounds, covalent compounds and acids) will represent 5% of each big test for the rest of the year. The more you practice these chemistry "vocab" terms, the better.
For the first thirty questions, answer with just the formula, for the next thirty, answer with just the charge.
Example: For 1-30, if the question asks: "calcium ion =" You should answer: "Ca" (Don't forget - uppercase "C" lower case "a.") If the question asks: "nitrate ion =" you should answer "NO3" (No need to make the 3 a subscript as in NO3).
For questions 31-60, if the question asks: "Ca? =" it is asking for the charge on the Ca ion and you should choose "2+" from the drop down menu, and if the question asks: "NO3? =" it is asking for the charge on the NO3 ion and you should choose "1-"
If you really know these ions, four minutes is plenty of time.
