The story begins in 1879 when two Germans came to the mountains and began mining. In those days, Germans were often called Dutchmen. That is why the mine was called the The Lost Dutchman MIne . Whenever these two Germans came into town for supplies, they paid for their purchases with lumps of pure gold. This made many unscrupulous people interested in the location of their mine. Many people tried to follow them, but no on succeeded in following them to the mine. When they entered the wilderness of the mountains, the two men seemed to vanish into thin air.
