#1 7A.1 passé composé with avoir or être
Dr.& Mrs. Vandertrampp is the acronym for the verbs that use the present tense of être for the auxiliary or helping verb. A few of these verbs of movement (motion) use avoir ,instead of être, as the auxiliary or helping verb. When these verbs monter, descendre, sortir, retourner take a direct object, use avoir to form the passé composé. When passer is used with time, avoir is used.
