#3. "Rear Window" -- response after viewing
The first big question we got engaged with in "Rear Window" was whether or not Jeff and his gorgeous, perfect girlfriend are going to make it as a couple. Soon we were wrapped up in another "big story" within this story -- the mystery about what happened to the salesman's wife, Mrs. Thorwald! Beyond that we got embroiled in numerous lesser stories (though certainly not "lesser" to the people involved) that LB Jefferies and company watch through his rear window. Hey, he's kind of like US in a way, isn't he? He looks into stories like an audience . . . stories he's invested in but not in control of, that he's not even a real part of. Seems like Mr. Hitchcock made sure there was a lot going on in this story in terms of ideas as well as plot!
