The Library of Congress Classification System organizes items by giving each item an identification number based on its subject area, authorship, and publication date.

GF75 .W455 2007
G = Geography
GF = Human ecology. Anthropogeography
GF75 = Human influences on the environment
W455 = represents the author's last name "Weisman"
2007 = date published
