The Proclamation of 1763

After the Treaty of Paris (Feb. 1763) ended the French Indian War the Privy Council decided to discourage immediate settlement of the newly won areas to eliminate tensions with Indians and so settlers would not occupy land that could not be easily controlled. In October, the Proclamation of 1763 was there announcement of this policy.
