Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa

Anorexia nervosa is a serious, often chronic, and life-threatening eating disorder defined by a refusal to maintain minimal body weight within 15 percent of an individual's normal weight.


Bulimia nervosa is characterised by episodes of binge eating; eating large quantities of food in a short time then, to prevent the otherwise inevitable consequence of weight gain there are periods of food restriction and often vomiting, laxative abuse or excessive exercising.
