Comm. Skills Priorities for Spring 2021 - (Four Choices)



  1. We have approximately seven department meetings left in the spring term. Understanding that we are all working on individual goals and initiatives, what do you think our time would best be spent working on as a group?

    Could we share best practices for writing assessment (especially as they relate to offering high-quality feedback in an efficient way and on integrating equitable practices)?  
    Specifically, could we discuss best practices for evaluating and responding to student writing and speech assignments in a way that avoids linguistic prejudice (yet prepares students for differing professional positions/levels of understanding linguistics)?  
    Could we share best practices for increasing peer-to-peer engagement in our online (or computer conferencing) classes?  
    Could we discuss practices for highlighting diverse student voices and embracing an asset-based approach?
