  1. Dr. Oz recommends making butter coffee to feel alert longer. This is a cup of coffee with 3/4 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter in it...sugar, cream, and sweetener as desired. Will you be trying out the butter coffee on AP test day?
Yes! I will give it a try.
    I already do this!
No, that sounds not so good and I might get sick.
    IDK- Maybe.

  1. Were you disappointed when we did not actually do the Paloma Blanca dance like the dancers in the video?
Yes, I totally would have done it...or most of it...happily.
No, I was quite relieved we didn't actually do that dance.
I would have been fine either way.

  1. When did you decide that you would take AP Spanish (all five years of study)?
I planned it as an 8th grader. I knew then that was the plan.
    I decided in Spanish II
    I decided in Spanish III
I did not decide until Spanish IV.

  1. I feel the most confident about my Spanish skills in:
    Reading
    Writing
    Listening
    Speaking
    Cultural Knowledge

  1. I feel that my biggest challenge on the AP test will probably be:
time management- completing each section in the allowed time
grammar- making grammar mistakes (verbs, adjective agreement, etc.)
vocabulary- knowing enough words to be understood or to understand
nerves/ anxiety- being comfortable enough to calm down and do well
understanding the directions to each part of the test- knowing what I am supposed to do in each part
the gift of instant gab- being able to quickly come up with material to ad-lib or fill time meaningfully once I have made my point

  1. At this point, what would help me feel more confident about the AP test would be if I spent additional time on:
    Test Simulations/ Test Practice Activities
    Grammar Review/ Grammar Practice
    Vocabulary building
    Cultural Knowledge
    Listening- developing my Spanish ¨ear¨

  1. I feel the least confident about my Spanish skills in:
    Reading
    Writing
    Listening
    Speaking
    Cultural Knowledge

  1. You can wear a ´dumb´ watch to the AP test to time yourself on certain portions. It would help to have a watch with a minute hand.
Will you have access to such a watch if you want it for test day?
    Yes.
    No.

  1. I hope you know how very proud I am of EACH of you. What you can do now is AMAZING compared to that first day in 8th grade when we learned ¨Hola¨ and you were a bunch of chatty little middle schoolers. I care deeply about each of you and again, I can´t tell you how proud I am of you, how FAR you have come in your ability to use and understand Spanish, and how amazing it is to get to see your ability at both the beginning and at the end. You all know enough Spanish that you can add Spanish as a minor or perhaps even a double major or major and have a good head start. We have several students every year that add Spanish as a minor, major, or double major, or use it in a career field.

How do you plan to use your Spanish?

I am not planning on going to college, but I think I may use Spanish in my future career or for travel.
I may minor in Spanish at college.
I may major or double major in Spanish at College
I am not planning a minor or major, but I think I may be able to use Spanish in my career after college.
I am never thinking about Spanish again and will close my eyes even just to drive by the Taco Bell. I just signed up to see what crazy thing Mrs. Theis would say/do/make us do next! ;-)

  1. Of ALL the resources provided, which are you most likely to use in preparing for the AP exam?
None. At this point, I know what I know and I am fine with that.
The paper hardcopy handouts from class...AP rubrics, packets on each part of the AP test, lists of plug-ins and transitional element phrases, simulations.
The online resources posted- AP released previous tests, online grammar review.
Other...I will watch movies/tv shows in Spanish with subtitles on, read articles in Spanish, , cultural documentaries in Spanish, listen to Spanish music, etc. to build/maintain fluency but nothing AP test/ grammar/ or class-specific.
A combination of handouts, online resources, and other.

  1. I believe you all will pass without problems.
However, if you have a bad day or an off day on testing day, there are other options that you have for credentialing your Spanish skills. If you are interested in this, check out the ACTFL OPI (oral proficiency test) and WPI (writing proficiency test) as a way of credentialing yourself on your resume, etc. with your level of language ability as ascertained through their testing. Not free, but not overly expensive.
You cannot earn the Ohio seal of biliteracy without a 4+ on the AP exam, but you can use the ACTFL test at any time in your life to test for a credentialed level which you could tout on a resume/ curriculum vitae document/ job application.

Do you understand that you have other options should something go awry for you on test day in order to receive proof of your Spanish abilities?
    Yes
    No

  1. How likely are you to use the pre-released FRQ student samples/commentaries or the 'assigned' MCQ on AP Classroom on your own at home to help yourself prepare?
Very likely. I have already used some and will use them more to tailor to my specific needs.
Maybe- I know where they are and that they are available if I want them.
Not at all. I know what I know and with that, I´m good to go.

  1. Mrs Theis is already available most days after school for extra help.
If additional timed practice SIMULATIONS were offered after school in the evenings during the week prior to the AP test, very much the same as what we do in class with the simulations, would you attend?
Time commitment would be about 1 hour per session, depending on the task being simulated, and each day a
timed simulation would be offered for a different AP task with a short repeat training review at the beginning. One could attend only the desired sessions.
Is this something that would have interested you? Be honest- you will not hurt my feelings!
Yes, definitely. I would attend extra evening or after school simulation sessions for the portions of the test I want additional practice with.
No, between the AP resources of all those released previous tests that you post and the in-class simulations we have done, I feel ok as-is.
Honestly...I like the idea but I am just too busy right now to be able to do this meaningfully and commit or not be rushed. (work, other classes, family obligations- or just too tired at the end of the day)
Honestly...It´s nice of you to offer but I just am not interested. Thanks anyway, Señora :-)
Yes, definitely. I would attend EVERY extra evening or after school session that I could, and would change my schedule, make arrangements, break plans to be there.
