  1. Why is preparation important to success? Explain how you have prepared daily in the past including past game day preparation. Relate this to the role you wish to play on this team this season.


  1. Explain your mental approach to each practice. Each Outing.


  1. What is mental toughness? What can we do during our practices / workouts that can help build your mental toughness?


  1. What did like/dislike about your past daily practice/approach to winning?


  1. What past or current weight lifting and/or conditioning workouts have you done or are you doing that you think helped you compete on the mound?

  1. Tell me everything you can remember about your this past year's Summer, Fall, and Winter outings/workouts (best/worst). Have you gotten better? Why or why not?

  1. What things have you been unsure of or you do not understand about pitching?


  1. List adjustments that you have made, in your delivery or approach, in the past year that must remain constant for you to continue progressing into this Spring.


  1. Explain what it means to control the running game. What elements of your approach will allow us to do this?


  1. Which drills or part of a throwing program on a daily basis do you feel is/are most critical or beneficial to your development?


  1. You have some homework between now and when your coaches see you next. Obtain two 3"X5" index cards. Write down 3 personal goals you wish to accomplish/attain this season. Make then attainable...i.e. double my strikeout to walk ratio, improve command of my off-speed pitch, etc.etc.

    Write these same 3 goals on the two cards. Keep one for yourself and hang/tape it up in a spot you will see on a daily basis like the inside of your locker door. Give the second card to Coach Hammons when you see him next.


  1. Finally, detail how much time you need to recover from 1) an outing & 2) a bullpen session.
