  1. Pick one story and describe the beginning, middle and end of the story.


  1. Listen to the reporter: what do you notice about their speech patterns? Can you mimic them? Do they use phrases such as “um” “like” or “you know”?


  1. How would you describe their tone? Upbeat? Serious? Alarmed? Uncaring? Other? Why do you think so?


  1. How much / what kind of background or history is in the report?


  1. Are there any facts or statistics used in the story? If so, what are they?


  1. What do the reporters do when they are finished with their story?
