2025 Competency Assessment, Set D Assessment - GC Culture

~This is a competency assessment of testing personnel for CLIA Contract Counties. Every person who performs this test must submit a report. You have only one attempt to submit the report. Once you click submit at the end, your report is final.

Samples must be plated within 24 hours of receipt.

The cultures for this Competency Assessment are sent in Tryptic soy Broth (TSB).

Supplies:

•Inoculating loop
•Modified Thayer Martin II media

Procedure

1. Before use, ensure the cap is closed, and gently invert 4-5 times, to ensure proper mixing of culture suspension.
2, Aseptically, open the tube and use a sterile swab to Z-streak the MTM II media.
3. Use a sterile inoculating loop to cross-streak over the Z-streak on the MTM II media.
4. Incubate at 36±1℃ with 5-7% CO2 for 24-48 hours per facilities GC procedure.
5. Use your routine testing procedures to screen for N. gonorrhoeae.

~Evaluate the competency samples. Indicate results for those samples in the appropriate boxes below. Some facilities are not required to perform testing past a certain point. In these cases, choose "not applicable" and your report will be adjusted accordingly. If you have any problems with the samples or questions concerning the quiz, contact April Ponder at 828-208-1351. Other questions should be referred to your regional technical consultant.

~ Since results will be entered using the internet, each participant must print a copy of the form to sign and keep in house. Sign and date the Attestation Statement below test area.

~All reports must be returned by October 28th 2025
