What's My Citizenship Grade? S2Q4
Mrs. Vinnard uses a numeric method to determine your citizenship. Everyone starts with an M. After every TWO citizenship issues, your grade goes down by one letter. For example, someone would move from an M to an I on their 3rd tardy. Check your record in Powerschool for tardies and missing/late/incomplete work. Mrs. Vinnard also keeps a paper record for things like chewing gum and phone use. If you can't remember how many times you have done these things, you can send Mrs. Vinnard an email and she can tell you. Then complete this survey to help you determine YOUR citizenship grade for the quarter.

- Class period:
- Number of tardies:
- How many times have you been absent? If you have excused absences, such as from being sick, that's ok, but some people just don't come to school, which is not ok. *
- Number of missing assignments:
- Number of late assignments:
- Number of incomplete assignments:
- How many times have you been asked to spit out gum?
- How many times have you been on your phone in class?
- How many times have you been asked to stop talking in class?
- How many times have you been asked to get in your seat?
- How many times have you needed to borrow a pencil or charger? While this is not a major issue, if someone borrows frequently it means they are unprepared for class, which is reflected in the citizenship grade.
- How many times have you been asked to stay on task while using the computer (such as to stop playing video games)?
- How many times have you been asked not to touch other people or their belongings?
- How many times have you been asked to put away food, toys, books that are not part of our class, or other items?
- On how many days have you been wearing your hood in class?
- Add up all the numbers that you wrote down. You can probably guess your citizenship grade based on what you wrote. If the total for all issues combined is:
0-2 M
3-4 I
5-6 U
more than 6: U
- Has a substitute ever specifically mentioned that your behavior was not appropriate? If so, this is a serious issue and you will probably not get more than an I for the quarter (possibly a U).
- If you have caused a disruption, such as fighting or play fighting with others, your citizenship is a U even if this has only happened once. How many times have you caused a disruption?
- To get an E, you have to have none of the above issues, and also have done things that go above and beyond. Examples of going above and beyond are: volunteering to participate in class; serving as a classroom assistant; helping someone without being asked; cleaning things up without being asked or even if they aren't yours; doing work that is above the standard; and being exceptionally kind and on-task. Explain, if you think you have earned an E, which of these things you have done.
- Based on ALL of your responses, what do you think is YOUR citizenship grade for the quarter?
