- Star Office Suite - basics
Overview of the basics of Star Writer (wordprocessing), Star Calc (spreadsheets) and Impress (presentation) software. It will include a question and answer session on “how to” issues from the participants.
Preparation : Questions on what you need help with. In advance would be helpful for the presenters – pass your questions on to Craig.

- Slideshare is the world’s largest community for sharing presentations in Powerpoint, OpenOffice, Keynote and PDF files. You can also search for suitable presentations using a keyword search on a variety of sites. Why do all the work preparing a presentation when someone else has probably done it for you already. Come prepared with a few topics to search.

- Video creation, editing and conversion
Using simple tools to take video, modify and burn it to CD, DVD or place it on the web.

- Mindmapping
Inspiration is a clever piece of software that helps you draw mindmaps and illustrate them effectively. Ideal to use for visual learners in the classroom.

- Video on the internet - Youtube and Teachertube – search and locate appropriate video for your class, then store it for future use using Vodpod software . Instructions on how to directly download video files to your computer for future use will be covered in this workshop along with file formats and video playing software

- Flash animation
Flash is software mainly used for animation. It is however also used for other programs like the School's Reports program. This is a simple introduction to animation using flash so that you could use it in your classroom.

- Google - earth, sketch up - Google earth is a virtual globe program where you can see satellite and aerial imagery of any part of the earth's surface. Google Sketchup is a simple 3D modeling program designed for making houses, rooms, models and objects.

- Podcasting - A Podcast is a digital media file which is distributed over the internet for playback on portable media players. This workshop explores making, editing and distributing a podcast and using podcasts from sites like the ABC and iTunes.

- Increasing productivity
This workshop will help those staff who want to know more about email, attachments, files and filing, digital photos, storing files and using the internet both at home and at school. It will include a question and answer session on other common productivity issues from the participants.
Preparation : Questions on what you need help with. In advance would be helpful for the presenters – pass your questions on to Craig.

- Digitizing Content. This workshop focuses on converting and using digital content in the classroom productively. Using the scanning function on the copiers / saving to scandocs / access from the Data Projectors / Using the assignment folder creatively for students.

- Interactive whiteboards (smart boards)
An interactive whiteboard is a large interactive display that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer's desktop onto the board's surface, where users control the computer using a pen, finger or other device. IWB’s have additional functionality to deliver lesson content through the IWB software, this will also be demonstrated.

- Blogs and Blogging
A blog (or web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. They usually provide commentary or news on a particular subject or act as a personal online diary.
Preparation : Before the blogging workshop I would like you to set up your account. This should take no more than 5 minutes.

Wikis
A wiki is a type of computer software that allows users to easily create, edit and link web pages. A practical workshop to explore the potential of Web 2.0 blogs and wikis. Look at several examples for both professional and student use.
This workshop goes through the process of setting up a blog or wiki which will be ready to use with your students the next day.

- Online Learning environment – moodle
Learn how to set up your digital content in an environment that will allow student access and allow you to manage student work. Whether it is a topic or a term’s work, if you have the content, add the instructions and directions and you have an online course. Uploading assignments, forums, quizzes and links to learning objects will also be demonstrated in this hands on workshop. Preparation : An assignment or some class work in electronic form located in your H Drive or G drive. Log in to http://ceok12.lism.catholic.edu.au/moodle and log out again so a course can be created for you in advance of the session.

- Online testing – using moodle, hot potatoes, quia or others
Creating tests for students which can be taken and marked automatically while the student is online. Store and edit these tests, crosswords, closed passages etc to use in your classroom or embed them into a website.
