MATH - 1st SEMESTER

Take a few minutes to reflect on our work in math to date.
Please be honest in your responses.

REMEMBER my goals for you this year are the following:
1. Make each one of you an independent learner; responsible for your
own learning.
2. CREATE an enviornment that encourages / fosters independent learnimg.
3. PREPARE you for MCAS by providing you with strategies and review of concepts.
4. MAKE math fun and interesting - yet a valuable learning experience.

HOW ARE THOSE GOALS BEING MET?

Name

  1. How do you RATE yourself as a math student? RATE means how seriously do you try to learn concepts. (Independent learner)
I work hard every night with homework & paractice new concepts.
I work hard to do my assigned homework only.
I work hard ONLY when a test or quiz is the next day.
I'm not a serious math student; I rely on my classtime only.
I don't care much about math.

  1. How helpful is the "notetaking" process for you in class? Do you use this method successfully to review? (Independent learner)
I find this process helpful because I use the notes for review work.
I take the notes because it helps me to write down and remember.
I take notes in class and that's it! I don't refer back to them.
    I think it's a waste of time. I don't use them.

  1. How did you find the "CONTRACT" work in decimals and fractions in learning /reviewing?
(Creating an environment for independent learning & review)
Extremely helpful - I was working at my own pace
Helpful to review what I forgot
    I didn't learn anything I didn't already know.
I didn't know some concepts and didn't get help.

  1. How is the "pacing' of this class for you? By pacing I mean the speed at which we move reviewing concepts. (Creating an environment for independent learning & review)
The class is too slow. I get bored waiting for others.
The class moves fine for me. I find most of what we are doing is review.
I wish we could go slower; I don't get all my questions answered.
I think I'm over my head. Too much, too fast!

  1. HOw helpful has the MCAS practice tests been for you? (Prepare for MCAS)
Extremely helpful - I find working in small groups less threatening for my questions.
Helpful for review;; I find I can also help others.
    Not helpful - too hard
Hard, my classmates move too fast. I don't have time to figure the questions out.
