THOUGHT EXPERIMENT
Albert Einstein as part of his scientific process would engage in what he called “Thought Experiments”. During these experiments he would think through each and every aspect and step of the proposed experiment. While completing this process, he went through each of the steps pros and cons to determine the outcome. This process led him to many of his ground breaking Theories I would like to propose a “Thought experiment” of our own…… The following scenario is meant to help us expand our thinking and perspectives in relation to our Members Experience. In this scenario you have been hired by our Members to audit not only your performance but also the performance of our department. Our Members wand to be sure their Premium dollars are being spent in the most productive and efficient manner possible. Here is your “Experiment”…………

- As the Auditor how would you audit yourself in regards to how you use our member’s premiums on a daily basis? What do you do well? What would you request be changed?
- As the Auditor what things would you want to look at? What would you feel is the most important thing to audit? What would you look at first?
- When you are auditing is there anything that you would let slide by and not worry about? What would you absolutely not let slide by and feel is of high importance?
- What comment or concerns would you raise about your use of Members premiums?
As the Auditor what things would you require to be changed?
- How efficient are you in your daily tasks? (1 = lowest, 10 = highest)
- As the Auditor what things would you require to be changed in your efficiency on a daily basis?
- As the Auditor think through how you would audit our Department as a whole.
How does our Department use the Member premiums in completing our daily responsibilities? What would you require to be improved?
- How efficient do you feel our department is on a daily basis? (1 = lowest, 10 = highest)
- What would improve our efficiency rating?
- What comments or concerns would you raise? What would you require to be changed?
- When you were thinking through the auditing process what part of you performance stood out as something that you do well?
- In your report to our Members’ what about your performance would you praise? What would you praise about our department?
- Now that we have gone through this process, why do you think it was suggested to look at our performance through the eyes of an auditor?
- What did you learn about how you do your job?
- How will you implement the changes that you suggest?
