Are you interested in doing a novel study in a group? You would be allowed to choose a group (some restrictions may apply), choose a novel to read together, and then study it together. It would include both independent work and group work.

Are you interested in doing a mock court case? Each person in the classroom would play a different role (judge, lawyers, witnesses, criminals, etc.) and be expected to be an expert in that role. It would involve reading, research, and a willingness to participate.

Are you interested in studying one novel as a class? The teacher would present several possiblities, the class would vote on one, and we would do both independent and group work as we studied it.

Are you interested in putting together a class magazine? You would pick an area of interest (sports coverage, movie reviews, creative writing, etc.) and be responsible for your piece of it. It would involve possible research, writing a rough draft, editing, and finalizing a draft.

Are you interested in doing a novel study in which we all read different books by the same author, or in the same genre, or written about the same time period (medieval times, for example)? This would also include both independent and group work.
