The assumption here with this question is that we would continue the state funded ELT program from end of the regular school day until around 4 PM (give or take a few minutes) But we might extend the end of the regular school by a certain amount of minutes to address scheduling issues and budget shortfalls. This would mean that the regular staff would stay an extra 20, 40 or 60 minutes with a corresponding increase in pay.
There is little evidence that the district would go along with this right now (even if we proposed it), but the truth is that the only reason we go as late as we do is because the School Department says that they cannot provide transportation any earlier.
So this question is the starting point for a conversation to see where the staff is at on this issue. If we were actually going to change the schedule to extend the end of the day, it would have to approved by the School Site Council and then pass with a staff vote of 66%).
So if the distict were willing to fund an extension of the end of the regular school day, which of the following would you support? Please pick one.
I would prefer to keep the regular day dismissal at 1:30 PM
I would be willing to extend the end of the regular school day by some amount with a corresponding increase in my salary.
Another option mentioned in the Open Response section.
If we did extend the end of the regular day, by how many minutes more would be acceptable to you?
I would prefer to keep the end of the regular day at 1:30 PM.
I would be willing to vote to extend the end of the day to 1:50 PM with a 5% salary increase.
I would be willing to vote to extend the end of the day to 2:10 PM with a 10% salary increase.
I would be willing to vote to extend the end of the day to 2:30 PM with a 15% salary increase.
Please feel free to share your thoughts about the schedule and/or extending the school day. (Answers limited to 20 lines).
